Bettona Siamo Noi is my thank you to Bettona for accepting me into their fold. To me, Bettona is a microcosm for what the world should be: a place where everyone is welcomed and accepted. In this series of illustrations I seek to call attention to our sameness and diversity.

Enrica Longhetti
One of the great patriarchs of Bettona, Enrica was a teacher at our local elementary school for over 35 years. At 93, she can be found everyday in the orto (garden) behind her house, just outside the walls. I credit Enrica with really teaching me how to make fresh pasta. For our first pasta lesson I was instructed first to open a bottle of prosecco. She told me a few drops were for the pasta and the rest was for us. (My kind of cooking lesson.) Early this spring I caught Enrica wrestling with some grape vines. She soon had them under control.
