Self portrait, 2021
Through the years I’ve occasionally done self portraits. I remember using one for my stationery not long after college. But none were ever as realistic as this one.
Created in Adobe Illustrator, I’ve finally found the medium I was looking for. Yes, I start with a photograph but then every shape, line, and gradient is drawn by hand – or by mouse, specifically. So there is no PhotoShop filter being used. I feel the combination of my life-long experience as an illustrator has finally come together to allow me the make wonderfully alive portraits.
